Plans? Originally it was to sort the electrics and fit new tyres. But once I took the tub off, I thought I may as well give it a thorough going over. Not sure whether to repaint the tub yet or leave it "aged"
Narrow track? I'm hoping to use this with the Series II I have too[/quote] |

Narrow track, earlier model of trailer. Designed to be towed by Series vehicles so you should be fine if slow.

So after getting it all in bits, sent it off for blast cleaning and etch-priming. Its back now and resembles an airfix kit
Click image to enlarge Working to this manual, http://www.landroverweb.com/Pdf-files/Manu...ndbook.pdf and trying to get hold of consumable items such as Leather Oil Seal and Joint Washer (Items 27 & 26 of page 13). And is that Joint Washer paper, the remnants of which I think I scraped off the back of the Oil Catcher (Item 25)? Any pointers for the best places to get hold of consumables please and the exact bits I need please |

I don't need a trailer, but I have to say I want one now after reading the numerous threads about Sankey's.
Looking at the blasted and etch-primed components I'm getting all excited Time to get out and get a life....... Great work guys (all those working hard on Sankey's and posting threads) |

Looking great,
Slightly envious you had it professionally cleaned / etched ready for paint. Are you painting it? As it happens although I've not done much on mine lately, guess what I'm doing while watching Game of Thrones... Sticking a metal plated on the inside of the wheel grease hub as I angle grind the helicopter clips off ready for if I fit alloys down the line this picture shows the plate on top but will be fitted on the inside to stop the grease coming out of the axle and then the Land Rover center cap on top. Click image to enlarge will watch your thread also |

The plan is to paint it yes. Have just bought paint, and thinners together with my first spray gun (that sounds like a Fisher Price toy doesn't it.... there's an idea.....). Its my first shot at painting, like this is my first real shot at spannering, but everyone tells me its easy with patience, prep and the right kit.
There was so much crud and underseal on it stacey, it was worth the money for someone else to blast it and prime it. I appreciate this is never going to be a economically successful project, but its about learning new skills (and buying new tools!!) and hopefully having a useful trailer out the other end. |

Nice one,
I've decided to keep mine on a low cost budget (Keep the Sankey Simple) I'm doing the work. At the end of the day I decided its a camping trailer and will be used infrequently, while I want it to look ok it does not have to be concourse. It will live in my garage and if I need to go to the tip with it full of trees and rubbish I will not be too disappointed I'm learning as you, sprayed my first ever wheel not long a go after sanding , primer etc and happy with the result. Grinded stuff off with angle grinder, Sanded away with the different grades of paper... its all good fun I'm still unsure if to spray or paint the tub and A frame or roller paint on and this is the bit that's holding me back. Thing is I keep starting little projects on the car (see reversing camera) and then Projects in the garden that the Boss wants doing... Means time is limited, I do need to get on with it though.... Spraying or painting Sort 12V connection out Rear plate mud flaps / arches Refit reflectors / pins / brackets Make a lid fit the Roof rack enough to keep me busy |

I fitted a fuse box on the mid-crossmember and two sub-boxes in the rear light units. I'm no lecky wiz-kid so it may have been easier doing it another way. I have posted some pics in case they are helpful. Used new seven core for all wiring bar the 2 core to the front position lights. Flexi-cable from 7 pin connector to the main fuse box then ran the four wires to the four corners essentially.

Cheers for that Lancerdoc. Haven't got anywhere near thinking of wiring it up but that will be useful

I thought about doing something similar as seen this on another thread but I'm not electrically minded at all. My thought was to be cut off the Nato plug and rewire a std 7 pin to it. Change the bulbs to 12v Should this plan work? assuming the wiring to the lights actually works... |

That will work. Mine was modified the same, except the Nato plug was in place and the joins to the 7 pin lead were under the chassis - see the 6th photo in the original post above with all the scotchblocks John |
