The problem unfortunately is when dealers dont do the job properly...which leaves you with an problem.

I know that all the dealers have done is reset and cleared a fault and not replaced the part...now my problem is that whilst i could take it back if it had failed and that broke etc...you cant return it for a job they didnt do properly in the first place - but lied to make out they did Mike

Mike,if they replaced anything under warranty and it failed the day after your warranty had ran out your on your own mate....Its Censored i know but this is the way they work... as you say if they done the job correctly in the first place you would not be in this situation...I've had a similar problem with them over my slave cylinder they did agree to go halves with me... but it was still cheaper for me to use my independent and pay full price than go halves with then ? NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. despite what any warranty says, parts and installation must be "fit for purpose". if you have something replaced in the last few months of waranty, and it then goes wrong within say, 12 months of warranty ending, you would still have recourse to the dealer. if they tried to fob you off with "out of warranty, sorry" you would go back with the "fit for purpose" phrase and go from there, getting trading standards involved if required.

Mike say you get a new engine the day before your warranty runs out that means you have one day of warranty on that New Engine ? I've been through this with the dealer and customer service Big Cry

no they would warranty it for at least a year, they would have to, and its what most dealers do with major parts. they cant just say "HA! one day of warranty!" and blow a big raspberry at you

no they cant do that. you are still covered under the sale and supply of goods act anyway, and no dealer will say you have one day of warranty, we re not guaranteeing this, they just wouldnt, and any that try that are taking you for a ride.

Mike give your dealer a bell or customer service a bell and ask what there policy is.....you will find that they will tell you that the parts that are fitted under warranty are there parts and only last the duration of your warranty Thumbs Up NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

if thats the case it would never stand up. seriously.

if you had a warranty claim on the final day of your warranty, they fitted new parts and the next day they failed again, the dealer is not going to say to you sorry mate! if they did i d have them in court before you could say "DISASTROUS publicity"

Mike it has happened to me...to save the argument give customer service a bell and inquire Thumbs Up
Let us know how you get on

Edit.... you will get told as well that if that is the case that the warranty would last forever thats why it only lasts the length of the warranty NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY

Ill just go higher than customer services if the fault pops back up - i dont mess any more!

The point is no part was replaced - but i was told it was (and its actually 2 faults)

If the fault returns ill let you know how i get on. Mike

I guess if they can show that they really DID fix it then you're unlucky (if, for example the pathetic light surrounds were replaced under warranty and then rusted again six months later - which they will).

However, if it's a more complicated fault and it clearly hasn't been properly (and sustainably) fixed then it should still be covered.

My front heated screen STILL has a 3" strip right in front of my eyes that doesn't work. Every time it's been into the dealer in the last 18 months they've "done a resistivity test and shown that it works". However, the fact that it clearly doesn't seems to have passed them by. However, the fault is logged, even though i'm out of warranty.

I logged an issue with my clutch just before the warranty expired. They didn't have a chance to investigate but they've told me that it was entered into the system before the expiration date so I can bring it in any time (I'm guessing that offer will expire after a couple of months). One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

it would come under "unreasonable" in terms of contract law. You remain covered by law, no matter what LR says. Their T&Cs cant override the law. Granted if it was 18 months later you'd struggle, but a part replaced in the last weeks of warranty which then failed a week out of warranty, you'd be ok. if LR said no, I'd have taken them to a small claims court. If this ever happens to me then I will most definitely let you know what happens Laughing

Alan your right if you log a fault before the warranty runs out and they don't fix it in your warranty time you are still covered. NEVER TAKE LIFE SERIOUSLY. NOBODY GETS OUT ALIVE ANYWAY
