I came across this when I was deciding what to get- I always find it suspicious when a manufacturer doesn't have a FAQ page. But I am sure that you will find that this company has done all the research and asked Safari many questions: http://www.4x4connection.com/tech/snorkeltech.htm I love my ITg far too much to have to remove it for a certain make of snorkel. My vehicle runs absolutely fine Safari Snorkel, ITG Filter 'n' all! Personal choice and obviously dependant on individuality and engine set up of the vehicle! Basically what works for some may not suit others! A typical example - I'd love a Griffin stainless exhaust system but at nearly £500 and the possibility it may not be compatable with my remap it is a high cost risk! However with a standard vehicle it would be perfectly ok! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Thanks for the link Glyn, wonder what Safari have against oiled filters, are they just protecting themselves??
K9, I had to have my BAS map adjusted after fitting Allisport intercooler and Twisted SS exhaust, but now it runs like a dream! I really liked the look of the Griffin system and let them know I was interested but they never came back to me, so went with Twisted! |

Extreme sandy and dusty conditions that's what. In such circumstances you should revert back to an unoiled/standard filter. The sand and dust rapidly clogs the filter and your turbo is the first thing to go bang! I think Safari justifiably are covering their own proverbial posteriors on this one! Generally if you are not going to experience these extreme conditions an oiled filter in my opinion and experience (for what it may be worth) is fine....just retain the old one just in case!!! Well, fitted the Safari snorkel yesterday in the outdoors in shorts - looks great (the snorkel that is!).
I'll write up some notes as the instructions in a few areas are vague to say the least (photos too)! I took the time to seal up the induction pipe joints and drain vents, this took most of the time due to the above. But... I'll pass on what I learn't. PS. I need a new avartar now ![]() |

Looking forward to pics, just spent the afternoon dreaming off a 110 Hardtop in silver, with alloys (think it will be better for my work than a SW but will have to fit temporary fold up seats and belts, that's another thread

Thanks, the mirrors are from Paddocks - O/S, N/S. The N/S is convex to try to overcome the lack of visibility with no rear side windows. The arms are Britpart and the mirrors are Spafax.
Thanks Zagato, I'm loving it... It weighs just over 2.25 tons, 8.25m long. If it ain't broke don't fix it! Last edited by --defender-- on 10th Jan 2011 9:42pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Excellent, thanks. Might have to invest in a pair, although they arent cheap. With them being on longer arms, are you happy with them on permenantly? Im wondering if I would end up leaving them on or just put them on when needed? Going to be fitting a new Safari snorkle as soon as my step drill bit arrives. |
