Dashboard light
Apologies for the dumb / newbie question:

Can anyone help me identify the dashboard light circled in red in the attached photo? The symbol is a mountain with the letters "Lo" next to it. Cannot find any reference in the pdf manuals I have. The vehicle is a 2009 TDCI without ABS/TC.

Thanks!

PS - I know that the dashboard image below is NOT from a Defender, buts its the only one I could find with that symbol. I did try taking a photo of mine, but its barely visible...

Thanks Stanley!

Hmmm... The light doesn't come on when I engage low range, so I assume that the light/switch has a problem...

Whilst we're on the subject of dumb questions, does anyone know what this switch does? Its on the right hand side of the steering column (LHD vehicle). Again, nothing in the manuals.

Low range light is not hooked up on a Defender.

Guess your other switch would be for an auxiliary light or aftermarket accessory.

The dash was shared with a Disco 3 which does light something up when you're in low range, the Defender doesn't. It has a diff lock light but that's it. I'm surprised you've actually got a blank there tbh, I'd never noticed it in mine.

As for the switch... that's not a standard one but looks similar to the dealer fit worklight switch. Have you got some accessories that don't work?

Guys - thanks for the clarifications!

I can only see the Lo-Range symbol if I peer at it closely with a torch. It has never lit ... for obvious reasons now Smile I guess the LR line shares some components with the Disco, but its a bit odd, because its the only symbol on that quadrant of the dash.

Regarding the switch: It could have been for a work light, previously removed. I have not checked the wiring yet. It looks a factory fit, or at least a lot better than some of the strange wiring/switches added by the previous owner!

If you want I'll sell you one for a lot less than that Rolling with laughter

I've got three.

I hope yours is wired better than mine was if you think that's good wiring, mine were horrendously bad. I'd have been embarrassed to do something that badly.

Edit:
I think I've found some news about the new Defender, it's slightly longer!
