Don't worry about it. Even with the cock-up it'll still work out cheaper, and you'll still get the satisfaction when it's all back together and working again. Good luck!

Spotted you're in Liverpool and I'm in East Linc's so not the best  I've ordered one now and they've promised it'll be here Wednesday, touch wood I'll soon be mobile again .

I have got to tackle mine for the second time this coming weekend, assuming I can source the gasket.
I went with the whole new housing option. Fuel no longer comes out from the pressure regulator - but its dripping down from the housing - worse than before! The Haynes book says there is a rubber o-ring on the back of the block on the tube with the wire gauze on it - and that this should be replaced at the same time. I didn't have one of these in the kit so didn't change it, I'm hoping these aren't difficult to get hold of? |

Did you lose the "O" ring?
I have left mine in place as if you damage the fuel filter that's another £60  Been told the filter gauze is rarely a problem.
The metal gaskets come in two styles, one has a squarish hole in the middle and one doesn't, I used the wrong one first because I was a  that was to eager to get it back together again, using the wrong one left a section of the raised part of gasket not squashed so sealing nothing and it dribbled fuel from behind. I remedied this with the right gasket but broke something else instead 
I stuck the gasket to the side of the engine with a couple of small blobs of grease, this made sure it sat over the "O" ring sealing the sides of the filter and held it in the right place when re-fitting the FPR. You can get fitting kits off ebay quite easily: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TD5-FUEL-PRESSUR...65lCsVfdGA they include both types of gasket plus all the "O" rings required. If you get stuck ask while it's still fresh in my head, jobs not hard if you've done it before, that was my problem [I hadn't ]

Hang on hang on hang on... the gauze 'o'-ring is that massive great one in the middle of that picture on that ebay link Brian???
 I didn't see it on the backside under all the hoses, but I was looking for one of the small ones.
I'll order that kit and hopefully get it by the weekend, top link thanks! Chris. |

ah no of course its not, that big one is the FPR ring right? One of the other ones must be the one I'm looking for. Was it obvious when you had it off?

My gauze "O" ring stayed in position on the side of the block, guessing it's in some kind of recess so I didn't disturb it.
I think the "O" rings you circled are for the FPR bit [bit that leaks] as that has two and the small fat one on it's own being for the gauze, I think the seller has split them up in the pic showing which ones go together. I changed the three [top ones] on the fuel pipes and gasket, I didn't go any further than that [you know the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" ]

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/landrover-td5-fu...SwT5tWJfQC Great guy called Andy, dealt with my emails on Easter Sunday  and as promised it turned up here first thing this morning 
Took an hour to fit as it came with hoses etc attached, must admit to not changing the top hose as it looked complicated and as I didn't have a problem with the top hose I've kept the new one as spare. Must emphasise you don't have to over tighten anything, fuel lines have "O" ring seals, the new gasket is nice and soft so just a little tweak down working round bolts in turn bit at a time. Thing that helped most was a stick to hold bonnet up high, a dust sheet over offside wing and a pair of steps so you can get higher and see down to reach things.
