Work light - illuminated switch?
I've got a main dealer fitted work light but the switch on the dash is not illuminated and I keep leaving it on when I'm driving. I want to fit an illuminated switch but the I can't get the light to illuminate. My wiring is slightly different to the instructions shown at http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/co...oupId=1662 in that I've got black and red wires at the switch. This instruction also shows the black and red wires being spliced together at the lamp. Can anyone draw this as a simple wiring diagram, and explain how I can wire an illuminated switch. Many thanks.

A bit more info. When the switch on the dash is OFF, there is 12V on the red cable at the switch relative to earth, and 0V on the black cable. When I switch the light ON, both drop to 0V. This explains why the illuminated switch doesn't work, but I would expect both to be 12V. Confused!

Not if its switched earth which could explain your multi meter findings.

Cant see the diagram you posted sadly, it doesn't work for me.

You 'could' take the black wire off and connect it to the switch light earth pin, then bridge the switch light input to the now empty pin you just took the black wire off.

Not elegant as you're now running the work lamp or relay and the switch lamp in series but the simplest functional way round it. 3 Landrovers

Why not just use the switch on the back of the lamp?

Take it back you paid for them to fit it then it should be fitted correctly and legally unless I've missed something
