Loaded my trailer to take for scrap tomorrow hopefully.
More for the sake of just getting rid of it than the cash return on it. Click image to enlarge |

Glad you're not desperate for the cash, Steve! The last load of mixed scrap I took in, which weighed in at 3 tons, earned me around £30 only. A lot of it was compressed galvanised mesh.
Mixed dirty scrap isn't worth much at the moment (which is actually good, since it means that the low-lifes who go around stealing metal for scrap tend not to bother). Reading your post, it sounds like you're taking the trailer to be scrapped! |

That seems a bit low to me mate!
This lot I think will probably be about £8 - £15. I think they 'tip' for the effort though. I'm just glad to get rid of it, at least I'm not making the local council richer this way. I've got another load soon again the same amount, not heavy just bulk or wire and rusty stuff. |

After the unplanned 1600KM round trip to Belgium earlier this week, upon return there were still some traces of remaining road salt visible on the truck, so yesterday was a beautiful spring day with our first bbq of the season, but in the morning also what you can call the big spring cleaning day for the truck.
First it got a careful underbody hot soapy wash at one gas station, making sure not to come too close with the pressure wash nozzle to safeguard the Dinitrol, then from there a few km to my local car wash with an automated washing street. After that back home the usual towel drying, this time also a full vacuuming the entire inside, washing and sun drying the rubber mats, ACF-50 in the door hinges, WD40 in the N1/S1 power plugs to remove any possible remaining moisture. I also removed the leather Legend tool bag from its safari door support, decided to safely store it when not needed. Not necessary to attract too much attention to that eye catching rarity. Truck finally went back into its covered secure parking still yesterday afternoon, since this morning as forecasted the weather turned rainy and windy here again. Had to return there still last night, as had forgotten to put the Ardcase back in the truck after the spring cleaning. Next will be dealer visit for a new EGR valve. Then an appointment with my tire center for changing winter to summer tires again. Wired in a 'winch on' warning light fed from the winch side of the winch isolator.
Wired in a 2nd volt meter to read the voltage from the output side of the split charge relay. The volt meter kicks in when the ignition is on. I will fit a switch so I can see the voltage without having to start the car/turn on the ignition. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
