If it is stiff to open, try lifting the swinging part off the pivot and cleaning and lubricating the pivot. Mine opens really freely.
It has crossed my mind to add a grease nipple or two to the pivot. |

Patriot sell a ladder that clears the wheel carrier and standard ones can be modded to fit |

When you say clear, how so? How would you mod to fit the standard ladder? (I have a DC so need the twin ladder rack) |

When looking at th R/H ladder the L/H upright is cut away at tub height on the Patriot one, but we mod it so there are stiil 2 uprights to the chassis

If you got the ladder un coated the mod would cost about £50 plus about another £20 to have it coated, all this is if you have a carrrier
