Not starting, post clutch change. Help!!
Hello all.

The beast has been in for a clutch change. No major problems, just the usual lengthy process. It was done the 'long' way or the 'proper' way, in from the top, inside the cabin centre console. All reassembled, all apparently fine. But on turning on the ignition, only the Battery Indicator, Odometre and Petrol Guage (and indicator) light up, but absolutely NO response when the key is turned to position three for fire up. No heating element indicator, no turnover or click of the starter, nothing. All terminals on the battery are properly and firmly attached, all electrics seem to be fine (Windows, lights, AC, radio etc) and car locks/unlocks. But position three is dead. We shut all windows, doors etc and locked the cabin from the outside and watched the immobiliser go through a sequence of fast flashes, before a sequence of slow flashes. We left the cabin and doors untouched for 10mins. Disarmed the immobiliser (apparently normal - doors unlock, interior light turns on, four-ways flash). Red immobiliser flasher stops. Key in ignition, turn to Pos2, lights as above come on, still no coil light etc. Turn to pos 3, nothing. We have checked fuses, (but not sure which would be the immobiliser anyway) and re-checked all connections to the battery and those above the clutch that were disconnected during the replacement, including the starter motor wire. Mech thinks it is the immobiliser and either the fuse has gone or the immobiliser needs recalibration but we do not know how.

Any thoughts anyone? Heading back tomorrow, so suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance, I'm sure you have better things to do like being at the pub (unless it has wifi and you're on your phone!!)

Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

The above is what I had issues with after clutch change too.
Worth checking them all though.

Thanks Steve. Was it what Sharkey Marc suggested or something else? We're leaving it fully locked overnight in case a genie appears or the immobiliser recalibrates, or something else entirely unscientific.... Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

The earth strap has to be disconected to drop the gearbox when changing the clutch,so, if it's not making a good conection then can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins.
Pretty easy to disconect it yourself & clean up the conections then re attach.
Thumbs Up

It turned out to be one of the ring terminals on the gearbox earth.

Following on, still no fire up. Done diagnostic and a permanent fault code has come up, U0100. Any thoughts? Monsieur Le Grenadier

Thanks Marc/Steve. Thumbs Up

Steve, will certainly check, but just for knowledge, would any of that have been touched dypuring clutch change or might this simply be coincidental timing? Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've heard, can't remember where though, that a similar issue was caused by the connector to the speedometer on the transfer box. This would've have been disconnected when the clutch was changed. I'm at a loss of how this would affect the can-bus as I don't know if this is an input it relies on but it appeared to cause a that guys problem. Confused I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
