Have you asked the person you bought it from?
What engine is it supposed to be diesel/petrol/V8/Tdi/Td5/etc? Is it even from/for a Landrover? If you gave a bit more info then I am sure someone on the forum might recognise it and a picture speaks a thousand words so a good shot of the engine would also help. All you have given us so far is 'I have an engine, can you guess what it is?' |

My 300Tdi engine was replaced under warranty and has a serial number starting with 2B2B.
Might be worth checking out. |

Maybe it has been rebored/ reconditioned, repairede etc and restamped R= Recon?
Just a thought, i dont know why you would restamp an engine block, noone would go to the trouble, unless its a recon company keeping their own register of reconned engines, but then why not use the original numbers? maybe its from an insurance write off or something> ? has the old number been removed? very suspect if it has... My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now |

The engine is a 200tdi, the guy said it was reconed 10k miles ago, everything seems to be in good shape, no shaft play in the turbo, new steering pump, no leaks etc..

I'd send it back, it's obviously not a genuine 200tdi if it doesn't have any leaks 😁 My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc..
