It can be changed in situ but the oil pick-up in the sump makes it tight to remove. Lifting the vehicle on the chassis helps to create a bit more space over the top of the front axle. Use appropriate axle stands etc.
It's a messy job, I have to do mine soon Allow plenty of time for the sealant to set, you won't want to have to pull it off again to re-seal it. Whilst you have the sump off it's worth changing the oil pick-up O-ring at the same time. Try putting a wanted ad up on a few forums, I picked up a good condition sump for £30 last month. There are dented ones on Ebay going for 3x that |

I picked one up form the auto jumble at Billing for 40 squid, when I stripped the drain plug.
It was a right pig to get the old one off as it had been stuck on with sealant. So after cleaning it off I put it back with Hylomar.....Big mistake. Hylomar isn't up to the job of sealing a sump.It leaked. I have just took it off this morning & re-fitted it with sealant.1 hours work, including a brew. At least the sump came off easily after using Hylomar. Access to all the 10mm bolts is easy with a couple of extension bars,so that the ratchet is below the axle.I had no problem withdrawing it backwards once all the bolts were out, though my truck has a 2" lift,it may be a little tighter on a standard truck. Good luck Marc |

Hello ,im the new guy Ryan , i don't think you have to change the sump , just clean both surfaces properly , with some spray cleaner, or gasoline , apply thin coat of gasket silicone circle to bolt holes (grey silicone )and re install , use lock tight on the bolts . that should work , i had same problem ...
