Great, so I can leave it for an hour or two and open the filter housing without the fear of oil spilling out.

You can change it up a couple minutes after shut down, no need to wait so long. It can drip out about 50cc of oil, so make sure you have a rag under it when you take it out. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)
