Greetings All,
I had a full set of WIPAC LEDs fitted, along with a pair of black JW Speaker Evo 2s by the folks at TMD. Superb lights, big difference in brightness, coverage and highly recommended. These are the WIPACs http://tmdtuning.com/shop/led-lighting-set-wipac-2/ I'm in two minds over the look of these on my white 90, so have been toying with the idea of getting some black plastic lamp guards, probably the KBX ones, but also considering the more common crisscross design too, just to tone down the shiny look. Does anyone have these fitted, ideally to a white Defender? If so, would you mind sharing a few pictures? Close ups and wider shots showing the truck would be ideal. I was also wondering if fitting them would drastically lower the light output as they will in parts cover up some of the LEDs?? Cheers, Edzi |

I had the plastic ones, they are what they are 'cheap and cheerful' they lasted not very long before they faded and became very brittle. Spend a bit more and get metal ones would be my advice. Sorry the Defender is not white, not my colour.

These guards were made by an Italian company called Corsetti and were provided by LRS Offroad. I believe due to supply issues they are now manufacturing their own in the UK. The front guards you do need to drill. With regards to the rear upper ones these are fitted with no drilling, the lower ones needed drilling and Rivnut fitting but also with a minor manufacturing change could have been made to be fitted without the need to drill. This may well have been updated perhaps? Ring Derrick at LRS and ask if you are interested?

On a white one...
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Have had them fitted for about 8 months and even under the harsh Botswana sun, have not faded nor become brittle. But as K9F pointed out, they are 'cheap & cheerful', so if they last a couple of years, I'll still be happy. The Corsetti ones do look much stronger & longer lasting, but I did not like the look of them, too chunky for me. If a manufacturer made ones that looked the same, in metal and mounted with the light mountings, I'd certainly look at getting a set (but with the Pula @ around 22 to the Pound, doubt I could justify that expenditure) Looking forward to see what you end up going with... Got mine from Bowers, link herehttp://www.bowerspartsonline.co.uk/vehicle...uardgrille Had to slightly modify the 95mm ones, but the 73 ones fitted perfectly. A bit .
If I would have a Defender with standard lights as opposed to the SVX version, I would have installed these genuine light guards here. Always liked the look of those. But then again, they would not have been available here as they are illegal in Switzerland. Maybe because they rust which probably is also illegal here. Some people buy them in France and do install them anyway without issues. Eric Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I do like them but think they work better with a classic looking Defender

If rust were illegal then I'd be locked away for ever I have those fitted Eric, and yes it doesn't take much for rust to set in (matches the rest of the truck!). You've prompted me to get them off, get them painted, and to isolate and coat those stainless fixings. My anorak is at the ready. Something for Spring Back on topic now - nice looking lamp guards Mal - great attention to detail as always |

Just to let you know KBX Light guards will not work with the Wipac Fog & reverse lights. Just so you don't go buying them and then realising after.
