Sounds like the rear diff to me

It could be the rear propshaft. When the UJ's get worn the prop can vibrate (actually they do this from new but dont usually rumble) causing a rumble sound especially upon decelaration (sounds similer to a bearing going).
Get underneath and have a look at the joints and also check the bolts are tight. Russell. |

In my car it was the rear diff.It developed exactly the same problem at approx.5000km and gradualy the noise started to appear at 4th ,5th and 6th gear from 80 to 130 km/h.
The local dealer changed the front diff the transfer box and both propshafts before shorting it out (poor thing). Hope that helps. George NOT A TRANSIT |
