Wind the box fully to the left, then count to full lock right, once you have this half it and turn that amount left. Confirm its correct by then counting left again to the lock, once happy count from left lock back to the centre.
Has always worked for me, just a quick note ensure it is a r/h drop arm for a r/h box or vis-versa if the wrong arm is fitted you will have no end of problems. I had one bloke at work replace the entire steering system including the 2 boxes (using the same arm) before he asked for help as it still wasn't working 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Thanks Mash . Yes it is a RH drop arm and box.
So turn the splined shaft all the way left.. Then all the way right counting the turns ( best marking it) Halfing the turns then back to the left and pop on the drop arm with the slots alighned. |

Yep
I always double and triple check once fitted to ensure its ok, oh one other point make sure the tab washer is correctly locked off and the nut is torqued properly have seen too many with no nut and the drop arm ready to fall off. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |
