The last 2 years of production were 88'' I believe it was lengthened to make way for the diesel which was based on the petrol 2litre Side & top valve.

With high provenance vehicle prices going through the roof, he might well find a buyer for this, if not quite for the 200k. Someone who isnīt shy of spending another 100K remanufacturing alot of components.
The trouble is ....alot of these barn find basket cases are actually the left overs from someone elseīs comprehensive rebuild. So effectively there are then two of these running around. He doesnīt have the orignal logbook from 1957, so there is an "identity split" in the making. As long as they donīt both try to register their vehicles in the UK, no one is the wiser, for a while. Look at how many original AC Cobras, Ford GT40īs, Ferrari GTOīs, Bugatti Type 35īs, there are (and Iīm not talking about kit cars and replicas). The courts are full of cases of people seeking to prove that their one is the real one..... Good luck to him for trying. I would have presented it differently... 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

I think that the original 2.0L diesel was the first OHV engine, and was the origin of the later 2286cc petrol and later still 2286cc diesel motors. (It has long been stated by some that the reason the 2286 is so strong is because it was designed fro the outset as a CI block). It certainly wasn't an IOE engine. |

Looking at the state of it, I think Ģ200 is nearer the mark.
Can anyone tell from the adaptor ring on the bellhousing and the modified engine mounts what has been fitted to it? The interior shot suggest that the bulkhead has been knocked about quite a bit to fit the engine, V8 perhaps? It has some good parts and for the right price would be a good project. Ģ200k is not the right price though. Mind you if someone pays that for it, who is the mug - the guy selling or the one buying? |
