lets grasp some reality and move on.....
I've seen too many of the uk's oil refineries and chemical plants close with skilled and dedicated staff thrown onto the scrap heap to be overly sentimental about a loss making but very capable vehicle.
lets look forward to the future
Richard

PS the good guys from the closed refineries and chemical plants always find work, but often it is a long drive home on a Friday.
Im in Qatar a few are in the North Sea, but we all move on. 130 Puma HCPU with an Artica 240LR Demountable Camper

Defender has had more than a decent innings and it's now time to move on. The company didn't rate it enough to address many of the well-known problems and the workforce never mastered the ability to make them watertight (in a country where rain is not unknown)

Too many ghosts of British Leyland still present in 2016 models - send for the exorcist.

In a world where most vehicle generations have a life cycle of about seven years, the Golf is on it´s seventh generation since it´s inception, and iphones are thrown away after only two years, the final hours and minutes of a 67 year run are worth thinking about.
I wonder how many of the Defender owners who will exchange the familiar wave today, will realise the significance.... 1998 Tdi 90 SW,
