front number plate position
am stumped. fitted my new winch bumper today and winch. my old one had space on the front side which was numberplate size, so no problem. this one doesnt. cant make brackets to sit in the middle of hte bumper as the plate will block sight of the drum/cable. Does anyone happen to know if its legal to use a sticky one on the front of the bonnet a la old english sports cars?

other than that...?!

oh, there are the old front vent covers I guess which are no longer used on the puma, but it couldnt be full size.

Sticky number plates are not legal any more, but most people are not bothered.

My number plate is on the front of my roof rack.

The self adhesive numbers are basicall illegaly. Otherwise it would render the legislation on number plates etc useless.

A couple of ideas for you. Take off the roller fairings or hawser and mount a couple of metal uprights Bolt your number plate to it using wing nuts. Chances are you will be off road when you are using your winch.

Devon also do some which bumper number plate brackets. Look HERE

Flat Dog, www.flatdoguk.com, do (or used to a couple of months ago) the G4 number plate holder.

It is a flat plate, front number plate size, with two right angle brackets. Mine was £15.

It is not shown on the website so give them a call if you want one.

If I remember correctly, as long as the reg number plaste is of appropriate type/spacing etc, the only requirements are that it is vertical and and is clearly seen to front or rear of vehicle. A bike on a rear bike carrier which obscures the rear number plate is illegal, hence need for a marker board

Mine's cut down and on the off side of the winch bumper. I asked in the MOT centre about size and they said that there is a maximum but not a minimum.

See Gallery under Merlin’s photos.

I've got the D44 brackets on mine. Keeps some of the muck off the winch drum.
