i cant help with your decision making but im interested in the nanocom and if its the kind of tool we should all have in our tool box? my local LR dealer are charging 108 per hour for any works so the nanocom could potentially pay for itself over a couple of years!
also is there anything extra special that can be unlocked, upgraded or activated at all with the nanocom? just thinking of any other plus points that would help sell itself Someone must have some input on this? |

I have a Nanocom Evo that I initially purchased for my MY2009 2.4 Puma 90.
I haven't used it much as my Puma is absolutely faultless (touch wood! ), but the Nanocom gives access to a lot of functions, including the immobilizer. The recent SW updates (1.30) also include injector coding and learning as well (although I haven't tried, as I had no need). But then I just bought a MY2003 Disco TD5 so I purchased the additional unlock codes for the TD5 and Disco 2 functions, and that helped me clear/investigate some ABS issues already! So. IMHO, the Nanocom is great especially if you have more than one vehicle supported, that proves to be invaluable. |

When I was deciding a few months ago, I went for the GAP Diagnostics IID Tool. I'm happy with it, but the Nanocom is good too.
Advantage of the Nanocom is with older Land Rovers. |

Is it as simple as downloading the codes for your cars and then just plugging it in? |

These are unlock codes, you don't even have to download anything at all, you already have the software, the unlock codes just give you access to the functionality already on your Nanocom.
As for price, for example, the unlock code for the RR L322 is listed at 168.14 on their web page: http://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/shop/browse Or you could do the other way around, purchase the Nanocom for the L322 and buy the unlock codes for the Defender Puma which is listed at 41.40 (probably the same price in the end as the Nanocom with coverage for the L322 is more expensive than the one for the Puma in the first place). Also, I'd suggest to get in touch with them to make sure you can use the same OBD2 lead for both cars. Actually, I reckon you may need 2 different leads for the Puma and the L322 (Blue OBD2 lead for the Puma and VCI 4 CAN BUS cable for the L322), so that'd add up to the price. “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique.
