Im fairly sure it doesn't matter what make coil you use, but stand to be corrected if wrong,
Give Powerspark a call, I replaced all the ignition parts on my v8 and found them very helpful http://www.simonbbc.com |

Hi Charcoal
The old RPi website has a lot of information which will help you identify the distributor in your engine and also give guidance on easy upgrades to the ignition system http://www.v8engines.com/electrics-1.htm Cheers John 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon 1971 Bowler Tomcat 88 4.2 V8 Auto 2022 110 D250 XS Edition - Gone 2024 110 D250 X-Dynamic HSE |

thats the dizzy with the ignition module bolted to the side of it? from memory you only need a balast resistor with the points setup.. which reduced the voltage a bit..
the electronic ignition type runs on normal 12volts. this comes from my mini days similar setup. 1953 80" 1987 mini city e 2011 90" |

Might be worth looking up the Distributor Doctor on the internet, he seems to have knowledge and parts for this sort of thing.

Thanks for the help everybody, just bought myself a Lucas ignition coil (to be on the safe side) and a ballast resistor. When I finally find an engine crane I'll get the engine onto a stand, wire it up and see if it all works. 1999 Land Rover Defender 110 td5 station wagon
