Here's a quick one,
before I start scraping and sanding, is there a better way of de-coking the pistons? It's a 200tdi with the swirl chambers. Someone mentioned burning to me, I've seen it done to the exhaust manifold, but I think the heat may damage the ally. I have a rebuild thread for those who are interested. (can someone tell me how to find the link to it please?) Cheers, HB Currently rebuilding my stretched 110 (now 122) to personal spec, probably going to be a double cab dropside, but not fully decided yet. So I've started at the front end first! http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic41658.html "Sorry love, don't make me choose between you and my Lanny. You won't like the answer....." |

^^^what he said, can confirm it works a treat. An industrial parts washer aka domestic dish washer works too!

Thanks guys, I tried this method and was surprised at the outcome.
I placed the pistons in a large pan of soda water on my burner in the workshop and they came up a treat!
