We have been in April,but found everything above 1500m unpassable.
So it will be May,as you say even in May the high passes have drifts which can be challenging. Love it in the Pyrenees,can't wait.   |

Great video.... you have really captured the glory of the Pyrenees
You are more organised then me.... spent 2 weeks in the Pyrenees in August and have still not sorted out the pictures Cheers Simon Beware the lollipop of mediocrity��. one lick and you suck forever! 2005 TD5 XS 110 with a few extras...... first Land Rover and loving it!! |

Excellent video and good detail on the thread, first I've seen it
 . Plan to do something similar (or Maybe French Alps to Romania) this year!!
BTW is this to ensure Jeeps don't travel further than they are able?

Well just 3 weeks before we head back to the Pyrenees
This years route will be the best bits from 2014 and 2015. Looking forward to seeing what the winter will have done to some of the tracks as some of the wash outs are huge. Contemplating taking chain saw this year too as a lot of time was lost due to fallen trees. Anybody just come back? How did your trip go? Will post pics when I get back |

Hahaha amondeggs - that tree you hit in 2015 was indeed a big one. If you're wondering how it lost those branches, here's a hint...

Wow it really is a very small world
It took the best part of an hour to shift the tree because as it rotated it became jammed on other trees around. I think a chainsaw would have been an easier option so may pack one on this next trip
What route did you take when you visited the Pyrenees ? |

We have just got back from a 5 day trip.
We followed Vibraction RB 4. http://vibraction.pagesperso-orange.fr/espagne/rb_4.htm We have found going early in the season means the tracks are a bit more challenging. We set off from Collioure on Friday 6/05/16.The first day we covered the route as far as Sadernes.Tracks were very dry & dusty and all the rivers were empty,obviously there had been no rain for weeks.Camped at the wonderful campsite at Sadernes. Day 2 we had light rain on & off all day,following the route from Sadernes to Gosol.Prety much a repeat of day 1.Still good driving on predominantly tracks.Then on the last decent from a height of 1700m,there were a few snow drifts remaining,but nothing we couldn't drive over,then we made a right turn at about 1500m the track was completely blocked with hard packed snow.I spent 1 hour digging it out,broke my shovel,  But got us through.Camped at the campsite at Gosol.
Day 3,couldn't have been more diferent,it had rained all night,so the tracks were wet,but not muddy.We got to Llinars,the note in the roadbook says only follow this section if you have low ratio gears.The low box was certainly needed on very rocky climbs. Then came the buttock clenching decent that had been washed out to over 1 m deep,bearing in mind we were on our own,so no back up. 
After we got over the first couple of washouts,Mrs Sharkey suggested going back,it was then I told her there was no going back,we were committed to completing the decent.One particular wide & deep washout needed big rocks putting in the bottom to reduce the risk of tipping over.

Hoping that the snow on the high passes will be clear this year as we had to turn around on a couple last year. Not long to the off now

Getting more than A little concerned about the fuel shortages in France . We are due to travel on Friday and drive down through France to Spain. Having spoken to eurotunnel we can take 30l with us from uk but I'm really concerned about the problems we may have finding fuel on the way down.
Any comments gladly appreciated |
