2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Alpine White

first clutch this year at 100k, 2007 110 & I tow a lot as well, mind you it had rattled for 2 years.....

Bought clutch kit on line and a good local village garage fitted for £300.

Aha, I replace them when they rattle, because it can get very expensive when the springs fall out. They're not exactly difficult to change, and it is a good opportunity to inspect and lubricate the output adaptor shaft splines.

Yes BW, it was after reading a post about loose springs disabling the clutch i withdrew my digit and got on with it!

First time just before Easter I did it myself, but on a angled block pave drive it wasn't pleasant, This unit failed after 300 miles, the supplier sent a new one and the local indie replaced it for me, 5 months 5000 miles later its still nice.

On this 300 miler, the main springs were still intact and held, it was the damper springs in the very middle that were making the noise.

When the manufacturer has had chance to thoroughly test & hopefully share the pain of the replacement costs I shall name names!
