Made it through Norway to our xmas camp in Sweden with a view of the northern lights in Oslo.

Roads pretty icy/snowy, but all good so far.

Sorry i haven't given any updates - i'm too tight to pay the data roaming charges....

So, back in the UK at the end of an excellent trip.

As an overview, we got the ferry from Harwich to Hoek van Holland then drove upto Hirtshals in Denmark with a roof tent stop on the German autobahn near Hamburg. We then got a Colourline ferry to Langusund in Norway - a short hop to Oslo to stay at a campsite on the outer edge of the city.

We then went to Lillehammer (stayed in a hotel) and had our first dealings os sheet ice and a steep hill with a trailer on......no issues though thankfully. We were then due to go to Trondheim to camp, but we ended up doing a bit of a marathon day to get to Are in Sweden, including very snowy (mountain pass) which was one of the most exciting drives i've done - very heavy snow meant i had to clear snow from the windscreen every 15 mins or so..... We got to Are late, so stayed on a lodge before setting the Tipi up and stayed for 5 days.

Heading home we stayed at Mora - lovely city with a huge multi activity campsite which would be great for families in the summer, surrounded by lakes. We stayed in a lodge, very reasonable at £20 for a 4 bunk wooden chalet. We then drove to Stockholm and ended up staying there for a couple of days - a lovely city.

We then had a bit of a slog to Malmo to catch the Ferry to Travemunde in Germany - a proper trucker ferry, but it did have a sauna on board and was less than £100, before driving back home via Hoek of Holland.

What we learnt:

Everything takes about 10x longer in the cold, it was about -10, but coldest we had it was -19. We had to sacrifice all our tent pegs as they froze solid in the ground - couldn't even get then out with a crow bar. It took us all day to take down the Tipi!!

We took far to much gear and didn't use the majority of clothes we took.

Winter tyres were a must - law wise - ours worked really well (BFG AT on the car and Coopers on the trailer), but if i were to do the Nordkapp in Winter trip, i would deffo have studded tyres.

I could have done with some dirt defenders to stop all the road grime spraying up the side windows and stopping any real wing mirror views - always stopping and cleaning.

The vehicle and trailer were fine, no issues we were getting about 22MPG towing at 100kph which i was pleased with.
