BF Goodrich A/T

Hi,

I recently took delivery of a 90 XS which came with 16 inch dual finish alloy wheels and factory spec Continental ContiCrossContact AT tyres.

I am hoping to replace the tyres with BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 265/70 but unsure if they are a straight swap or not.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes easy swap. I have the same size on mine.

Only thing I had to do was turn the steering in. As the new tyres hit the chassis.

Thank you for your prompt response Rob.

What exactly do you mean by "turn the steering in"? Was hoping to avoid any mechanical modifications as I am not very clued up on car mechanics....

I too have BFG AT of that size, no problems whatsoever.

out of interest, what's prompting the change?
The Contis have a pretty good reputation and are in a better size for most purposes.

Mine only catch on maximum lock.

They are loads better than the standard tyres. But that's a whole other thread.

hi Cupboard, decision is purely aesthetic. Standard tyres look took skinny for my liking

I always thought that the equivalent size to a 235/85/16 (other than width) was the 265/75 rather than a 265/70 in order to keep the speedo correct ? 04' 90 Td5 CSW..

I look at all Defenders I see with wide tyres and think "there's a 95% chance that those tyres were put on for show" and wonder why you'd want a Defender for show. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

In my opinion the Contis are horrid, and BFGs are lovely

Yes I am running both.

Agree though that the Defender size is 265/75 if you want 265 wide tyres. Not 70 profile.

There are many companies who produce products for people that aren't me, and of course because they're not me they're silly and wrong. And of course I'm never silly and wrong.

Suffice to say I won't be putting 265s or BFG ATs on my Defender for its current and foreseeable usage.

I don't think me running on any further about the superiority of narrow tyres would be particularly helpful or desired at this stage

Just wondered what you thought of the new bfg ko2 all terrain? What are they like on and off road?
