110 Utilty v 110DC
Chums,

I'm still um-ing and ah-ing between trading in for a 110 DC and changing the rear windows on my 110 SW to create a utility. As such, and knowing everyone likes to show off a little, can you drag out your favourite shots of your DCs and Utilities so I can spend Christmas looking at all your amazing configurations (more than I can find on google) and help me make up my mind for the New Year? Ta Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Grenadier, I truly have double cab envy, I wish I had gotten one. Mr. Green

I really do like Chris' DC. I took these when I collected mine from his workshop.

Although I did not take any shots inside the cab, the red interior rocks.

Go on do it, do it Mr. Green

I also like how the Spectre ones turned out image below in case you forgot

Thanks Ryderoo. My preferred direction but they're as rare a rocking horse s*** in France, normally 130s and effing expensive. Stanley, like yours very much too. And there's the dilemma!! Big Cry Monsieur Le Grenadier

The DC seems a lot more stable, those 110 Utility vans seem to Roll onto their sides or roofs every other minute. Laughing 3 Landrovers

I would say that keep it as a USW unless you regularly haul stuff where you need the load bay, e.g. logs etc. You'll inevitably want to keep stuff locked inside once you do the conversion.

I've thought often about converting my SW into a USW to hide stuff in the boot better. Only wish it had something like a RR split tailgate so that wide loads (not myself, yet) can get in more easily.

But then again I'm tempted to keep it neat to original because supposedly it's a relatively uncommon / rare early 300Tdi CSW. Ed

110 DC all the way.

Much more versatile in my view and soooo much better looking. But then again I've just watched Spectre at the Cinema...

With my sensible hat on I'd say that it still gives you the second row of seats (bit more upright than UW) and its much easier to live with - UW seems to be a bit 'boomy' when driving, due I think to the un-soundproofed load area which also gives an overall 'gloomy' pitch to the interior. Whereas DC gives you heated rear window just behind you and the interior can be kept 'nice' cos all your sh*te sits in the pick up.

Only my opinion and I'm sure others would disagree Very Happy -------------------------------

Heated window on a double cab? Thought they all had sliding glass same as the truck cab?

Maybe HRW came on later ones. Cant see it being much help as you can see virtually nothing useful through the windows in the canvas, especially with a 33" spare wheel! 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

No HRW in my MY13 DC either.

Visibility is not too bad but you have to remove the centre seat headrest.

Tub on dc is actually not that big & having a utility will allow longer loads.

Real benefit is keeping the mess away from the cab. I sweep it out every couple of months and am always amazed at how much I get. By contrast the cab only gets the mats shaken out every blue moon - usually in the supermarket car park when I'm bored waiting for the missus.

Don't want my stuff getting nicked and also can put long lengths of stuff in the back with the seats down. Also managed to sleep in the back a couple of times.

Don't give a monkeys about the looks

Heated rear window does seem about as useful as trying to heat an igloo with a T-light... Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Having run a rag top model of one type or another for the last 33 years - I've only had the back broken into once.

Anything seriously high value can go in the cab and if it's that big it needs to go in the tub then a padlock or two on the tailgate catches should mean that it can't be got out without lowering the tailgate.

Long items are an issue. I've taken a saw with me to the diy shop on several occasions and cut to length in the car park rather than have to figure out how to carry a 3 metre pipe home; although, that can be solved quite easily with a roof rack.

A thing of beauty:
