Waxoil / Dinitrol Alternatives
I've been wondering whether there's a way to offer the protection of a waxoil / dinitrol treatment but without quite as much 'gunkie' complete coverage of every underpart. I realise the contradiction here, but it would be nice to achieve the same protection without having to cover everything up in 3mm of something that looks like (and probably is!) tar!!

I realise it might not be a very tough, rough and muddy landy owner type question, keeping the underneath of a car looking pretty!! Embarassed But all the same, it would be nice be able to fully protect an immaculate car at the same time as keeping it looking new. Unsure that there are any other alternatives other than repaint/repowdercoat everything better than factory quality or Waxoil.

Awaiting any sage advice + the mickey taking that I've set myself up for!

It's the oil, wax or whatever else that gives the protection to the bare metal surfaces and to the thin ali. The covering stops stone chips from propegating into rust patches etc. It protects from salts and muds that cling. I did mine when new. Still good so I'm glad I did it 4 years ago. Dinitrol and it looks smarter than rust Wink

Bilt hamber do a clear wax instead of the tar look but the product is pretty similar with the same application. I've seen some testing on the net somewhere that shows the Bilt hamber products are a lot more protective than the others too. Ray

Hmm, that Bilt Hamber stuff sounds interesting. I get that the nature of the thickness and the wax/oil that protects and it's a bit of a vain question. Just feels a bit worrying doing it to a brand new factory vehicle, but much less worrying that the rust a few years later for sure!

Bilt hamber googling here i come.

I think I'd apply it I bit thicker than the link you put up for stone chips etc but it does give a standard factory look after application. Ray

Thanks Ray, Thats an interesting read which also has made up my mind.

Hammerite Wax-Oyl & Auson Noxudol 700 put up a great fight, i have been using wax oil for years, going to try S50 when weather permits

Have a look at the buzzweld products. Really good stuff and a very helpful bloke if you have any questions.

No mention again for the advantages of Boiled Linseed Oil? Then again probably better painted on in dry warm weather?
