Now... there have been some comments recently (following the Saturday Telegraph piece on OVIK CROSSWAY - above) from folk who assume we based CROSSWAY on a Land Rover Defender chassis... Hmm. REALLY?!! Hard to judge the scale until you see them up close and personal. CROSSWAY MRAV (5.5 tonnes) with the diminutive DEFENDER. CROSSWAY - 100% OVIK - including the chassis! Just in case anyone was still wondering....

personally I'm not a big fan of the US type pick up, that said I can kinda see the attraction. I think what you're showing from the front end of the bonnet back has the potential to be every bit as good as the 'competition'. For me the front edge of the bonnet down needs some working. unfortunately this will go away from the 'corporate' image you have for the rest of your vehicles but for civy street it needs a bit more style - what that would be I don't know but I'm sure a look at the likes of the Ford, Nissan and so on should give you something to go on.......or the beast (AMG G Wagon Smile

good luck. Thumbs Up

do you know what - it's growing on me. I was going to mention perhaps the front would like ok if it simply had the bottom edge wrapping round underneath - like into a sump guard. looks at some of the other pictures I think it already does it just doesn't show up in the picture. perhaps if the 'sump guard' was a lighter colour / contrasting colour it would look better and still think the bottom edge of the bumper needs rounding off a bit more.

you do base some vehicles on the Defender though don't you?
What are you basing them on next year?

That's not the standard bumper Catetham. That's our 'barge' bumper.. Designed to move obstacles and dead vehicles in a public order / riot scenario. It's absolutely not designed to look nice! Incidentally.. The centre section of all of our bumpers is modular and dan be replaced with a range of accessories. We do a winch section, a wrap around bull bar section, a bulldozer blade section (yep!), a snow plough section, and a front towing / pushing section. If you take a look a the website you'll see a range of alternative bumper profiles. In fact.. at CROSSWAY. there is no 'standard' anything.. Everything is designed to fulfil a role.

Cupboard.. We certainly have in the past.. Normally because there was no suitable alternative or, in the case of the police Service of Northern Ireland.. Because that's what the customer specified. In fact.. As I write this.. We are building the very last ten PANGOLINS.. Having received ten brand new chassis cabs last week. Then.. That is it. 178 PANGOLINs complete.

Might be off topic wrt the Crossway, but err, the article in the Telegraph reads:

Quote:
[...] fire bombed Pangolins go back into service after just a pressure wash

I guess such a paint would withstand the gentle scratches caused by greenlaning ... Food for thought maybe Smile

The PANGOLIN employs a range of equipment and design strategies to counter fire bombing (petrol bombs).. these includes fire suppression systems (external), fire proof seals and a paint system that withstands temperatures up to 1200C.. The vehicle in the images received no less than three Molotov cocktails on the bonnet and roof... which were variously extinguished and re-ignited. Ultimately the skin burnt for about two minutes.. the paint, seals and architecture is undamaged. All in a day's work.
