So TFR is OK, if you are planning on waxing/sealing after a wash ? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Like all hobbies/obsessions...APC - all purpose cleaner, LSP - last stage product (sealant or wax) and so on..LOL!

I've been using pH neutral snow foam for the last couple of years. A couple of weeks ago I ran out of it so decided to use car shampoo in my car foam lance which initially put a nice foam on the car but after only a couple of minutes dwell it had more or less all run off. I then power washed it off. The result? - no different to when using snow foam.
As stated in previous posts don't expect to use snow foam to give you a perfectly clean car - it won't happen. I'm still telling myself that by continuing to use snow foam I am reducing the possibility of scratching the paintwork. This used in conjunction with a two bucket wash system again helps to reduce scratching. Always have a clean spare sponge or wash mitt available in case you drop it. |

I thought it was quite good at removing salt and grime - and it makes cleaning underneath a lot easier.
It's definitely a pre-wash, but I think it adds some value - hope so anyway ! |

Discomog and Anderzander..totally agree...it snow-foam, two bucket method, good microfiber sponge or wash mitt, working top to bottom and lots of clean water to rinse off...is the best way to avoid paint damage due to washing. Sold Def 90 HT 2010...Stornaway..(SOLD in Oct 2014)

Thanks people. Plenty to go on if what ever I use helps to shift grease, mud, dirt without damaging paint then that's good.

Back in the days when I had enough hair to warrant a barber I had admiration for the barber who could place your "little something for the weekend" in your inside suit pocket without you even knowing yet alone anyone seeing. Today unfortunately I have no need for any prophylactic but I'm sure the ensuing conversation would be: would sir like the knobbly ones, the psychedelic ones the fruit or mint flavoured etc etc with never a thought for any discretion.  I started with nothing and still have most of it left! |

I've tried the Power Maxxed TFR a couple of times on Mrs McG's Transit, thought I'd share my experience so far...honest views, having applied at 1:10 ratio, allowed 5-10mins dwell time and then pressure washed off :
- It works more effectively than snow foam/pressure wash, removing most of the crud and road grime. - The van looked clean - A couple of areas, I just sprayed again and agitated with a soft brush - Its not as good as doing it properly, snow foam, pressure wash, then with buckets and shampoo...however as solution that is quick and fairly effective during the winter months, it a winner. (it took me longer to set up and break down the hose/pressure washer than it did to do the van) I may increase the TFR content slightly next time, but again I'd go no more than 15% to avoid any risk to the sealant already applied.
