Any tyre taller than 235's will effect gearing but depends on the size. Boosts are 7 inch wide and this will restrict the tyre size.
This link will give you a guid. (click the veiw spec link on the right bottom) http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-select...spec_table I too have 285's running on 8.5 inch rims, if anything else it makes the speedo run true ![]() |

The common sizes are either 235/85, which is how they come from the factory, and 265/75. The latter are, as near as makes no difference, the same diameter as the former so they're interchangeable. Darren

Only other thing I would add Alan is the question of whether your turning circle would be compromised with wider track tyres? It'd 'ollocks at the best of times
![]() I'm sure the others here would know, but I've just fitted 30mm spacers to get something appearing sensible. This is border country and the Romans built a wall for a reason! |

This old chestnut. I have run 285/75 on boosts no probs although it will affect the gearing and it doesn't catch the arches, although they can catch the radius arms on full lock.
Depends on what you are trying to achieve really. |

so width wise you can run a 285 on a boost alloy ok? just looking for some 33" ish tyres for the 90 puma i just picked up, the 235.85s are just too small looking with the 30mm lift it has. Cheers

Tyres are not sized solely by width, you need to consider the height (percentage of width) as well.
This way, 235/85R16 tyres are the same overall height as 265/75R16. The overall height which is what you should aim to keep the same or very similar ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi Martin, thank you for reply, yep well aware, i am trying to acheive a 33" ish height, the brand and tread i want only do that in a 285, just wondering if that will fit the boost rim, 7.5J is it? Cheers
