The more you read about the car driver in this case (follow the links to his personal website, his dashcam website, and his "space weather" theories) the harder it becomes to escape the conclusion that he is completely bonkers. It is also apparent that it is not the first time that his driving, either shockingly incompetent or intentionally provocative, has put him in a position where his dashcam just happens to have filmed incidents involving his car and HGVs.

I have never met a 'normal' person who feels it is necessary to have front, rear, and side-facing cameras.

Both of them need their licenses revoking. Dash cam knob clearly set out to provoke a response. My humble opinion is that anyone doing less than 56 on the motorway intentionally shouldn't be on it!

Lorry knob shouldn't have been so irresponsible. Could have easily killed someone.

I agree with you Miker except it is lucky you don't drive a Series diesel as 56 mph is only achieved in free fall.

He's back again, plugging his new website:

Matt Stockdale, chairman of PoliceWitness, said: "I formed PoliceWitness after I was almost killed by a reckless HGV driver."

Chairman??? Pompous jobs-worth.

Here's his latest video release to the press. No doubt another will be released tomorrow for further self publicity. Someone will find him and offer him a box on the nose soon enough.... Whistle

At least in this case the incident does not appear to have been caused by Stockdales unhinged provocation!

I have to admit that anyone who overtakes with such a total disregard to others deserves to lose his liberty - he's lucky to retain his life!

Blackwolf. It wasn't unhinged provocation, he was almost killed by that Artic don't-you-know. You've seen the video, being inside his car is like a scene from Mad Max. Serious, serious stuff. It just took him 40 miles to realise it....(after ensuring the recording was in good nick, and the ambulance had been called to assess his catastrophic injuries). Whistle Monsieur Le Grenadier

Yes, I know, he was minding his own business, driving at a nice safe 50mph, with his hazard lights flashing so he was safely visible, and very wisely driving in lane 2 so he had a better view of roadside dangers, when he was brutally menaced by a maniac trucker who appeared without warning from behind in a manner reminiscent of the movie "Duel".

Thank goodness the victim of this unprovoked attack was a self-appointed champion of road safety and protector of lesser drivers, who could courageously don his hi-vis cape of virtue and rid the roads of this trucking menace!

This whole story reeks of self-promoting, pompous righteousness.

the 'victim' is clearly a numpty.

re the comment of 56 mph I just don't agree. assuming a safe distance why would driving at sub 56 mph be a problem bearing in mind how many lorries are restricted to 50mph?

how many accidents do you see on the motorway that are likely the result of too much speed or too little distance between vehicles.

benefits of reduced speed equals greater fuel economy, traffic flowing more smoothly and so on. the number of times I catch up with people that have gone flying past in lane 2 and 3 and then get held up because of congestion due to everyone trying to over take no one is remarkable.

BOTTOM LINE. most road users appear to have a shockingly poor ability to drive well. just this morning saw an accident where 2 cars had collided at the exit of an island - I suspect one of them was a numpty.

The issue with speed is that our hero, the Caped Crusader of Virtue, was doing circa 50mph in Lane 2 of an largely empty three-lane motorway, with HGVs gaining on him from behind. If he had been in Lane 1 he would have been entirely at liberty to travel at 50mph to his heart's content. The fact that he was in Lane 2 - quite without justification - changes the picture completely, since it means that the HGVs behind were unable to pass legally.

I do wonder how long his moronic antics had been going on for by the start of the original video. Some while, I imagine. It would be rather pleasing if one of the lorries had a dashacam that provided an alternative and possibly more honest perspective.
