Tarnscheinwerver
Had a bit of time today and tried a mod.
I had a Swiss army tarnscheinwerfer(blackout light) in my garage, so decided to install it to see how it looks.

Made a aluminium plate to replace the plastic vent cover and bolted the light on it. It is not wired yet, might do later(not totally legal Wink )

I think it does not look bad. Goes well with the snow cover on the other wing.

Are you expecting war or a Zombie invasion? Cheers Don.

It highlights Zombies and makes them glow in the dark.......

Not really! It is a light that will illuminate the way ahead but the light source can not be seen from above, as in the blackout in WW2. Cheers Don.

same reason people put rubber band tyres and massive wheels on cars, because they can?

I'll admit I think it looks quite cool, though I don't think I'd want it on mine.

It does not do anything, especially because is not wired up.
Just for aesthetics, that some might like and others won't

Just like installing different grilles, wheels, steering wheels, badges, stickers, different colour interiors, painting the car and so on.

Not every mod needs to be of totally practical purpose.

I know, this is the Defender forum, no such thing as just for fun/pleasure Wink

Better to take it off before you will go to the first technical inspection when the truck will turn 4 years old. Such a lamp installed in that location would mean a guaranteed fail of our Swiss "MOT". Laughing

Isn't that what more ore less everybody does with the different mods(and then put them back on?? Wink

Not the first vehicle I take to the inspection in the last 35 years, car and bikes.

I could tell you the pain this summer to have the Carbon fibre wheels approved for my rocket, painful, but at the end I won(not so with the rearsets Crying or Very sad )

^^ Laughing At first inspection at 4 years I even was advised by my dealer to take off my Entreq snow cover and put the standard plate back on before going to the inspection. They might have failed it if the snow cover would have stayed on because of the danger to pedestrians in case I would hit one with it. Shocked

I know it's probably reversible and each to their own and all that, but seriously, my first thought was OMG, what have you done!! To a special edition?!!! Big Cry

Yes, of course, but I do not plan on really driving around using it.

Fitting it on the bumper would have required modifications to the car that I did not want to do, otherwise it would stick out too much in front

The Swiss Army Land Rover had them fitted on top of the wing.

But yes, well ahead of where I fitted mine, but that would have involved drilling the fender, which I did not want to do either. And doing that would have upset even more the purist of the marque, the "must be kept original only". Probably caused them to have a stroke(see post below yours) Wink

It would take 2 minutes to put it back to standard, no arm done.

Yes a special edition, but my special edition.

If the sight of it upsets you so much I might consider deleting it, or maybe not. But promise not to try to sell it to you Wink Mr. Green
