Currently I'm building a tribute to the Land Rover and as part of it, I want to make a series style dash. I plan on moving the instrument dials to the centre of a custom dash and have old fashioned bulbs (with labels). Is it possible to reroute the current warning lights by extending the wiring to reposition them? Editor of FunRover - One blog. Read it!

The TD5 warning lights use cable-mounted 16-way and 20-way 040 female connectors. There's a cable-mounted male connector for the 20-way - but, not for the 16-way. There are PCB male headers for 16-way and 20-way, in both vertical and horizontal mountings. There's also a horizontal mounted 36-way PCB male header, which combines the 16-way and 20-way into a single PCB header. The 14-way 090 connectors used on the instrument harness for speedo and gauges, can have their terminals released and replaced with new terminals with longer cables - or, have a male/female extension harness plugged-in, to go between the main harness female connector and the instrument harness male connector. . Thanks Paul.
I actually wanted to split out the bulbs for the warning lamps so I could make something like an old dash, like this: Click image to enlarge Would it just be a case of desoldering the SMDs and then extending them on wires? Why would you do that?
You could just use your own lamps and wire them into the Td5 loom using the connectors Paul has identified. The Td5 ECU will happily drive bulbs, I had a pre-Td5 warning panel for a while with the Td5 conversion. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Or you could use panel-mounted LEDs. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
