I'm not that keen on the black Air con grille, it's black enough, same goes for the roof. I saw one with the VGS glass with a black roof and didn't like it. 2016 D4 HSE

Well I fixed the sticky sun visors problem.
The Plasticote spray didn't dry very well, even after a week it was still tacky, despite many light layers. It was looking like I had two ruined sun visors and would have to cough up the £200+ for alcantara. So, I bought a can of Halfords Matt lacquer spray, and hey presto, it dried properly and gave a Matt effect too. So, instead of paying £220 for the proper alcantara ones, I have my original ones in Matt black for £14. Let's face it, they don't get seen much and I sit so tall I have rarely used sun visors in a Defender. I now have all the eggs in place to replace the headlining and do the insulation and sound proofing on the roof panel. That's going to be an exciting project. In the meanwhile the Defender goes back to the dealer on Tuesday for a new clutch as it suffers from the dreaded Death Rattle. 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

The Defender is in the Dealers today to have the clutch rattle investigated.
Fingers crossed, either way it will come out with a new clutch. 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

RRUK, would you be kind enough to let me know what kind of response you get once they have investigated the clutch rattle, my 90 has gone to the dealers today for fist MOT, 3rd service and warranty work, one of the things i pointed out was that i have a nasty clutch chatter/rattle whatever you want to call it when in neutral and ticking over. Once you push the clutch pedal down the sound stops.. annoyingly when i got out at the dealers earlier today for the first time in about 3 months it was silent on tick over so very typical of a Land Rover!
Seeing that it is a 62 reg that has only done 34500 miles I'm not very impressed. I told them about the chatter sound again today and even if they don't see/hear anything wrong with it whilst it is in with them apparently because i have mentioned that something definitely isn't right they will have to fix it if it gets worse or goes wrong later on in life which is some relief! So will just be interested to hear what your dealer comes back with. |

Will keep you posted.
Just as an FYI, I wrote (yes, pen and paper) a letter explaining what I knew about the fault (to illustrate I am no one's idiot), how Land Rover have themselves addressed it with the 2 clutch driven plate revisions and that having only covered 350 miles in mine, I expected it to be fixed for free under warranty. I sent a copy of the letter to the Dealer Principal, the Service Manager and the Head of Sales, and notified them all who else was receiving the letter. After one week I had a call from the Service Manager agreeing to address the situation via investigation work. Once they have taken it apart I expect some conversations where I will explain why LR should cover it under warranty. It's never an immediate "Yes" is it?!! 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

The Dealer just rang:
Land Rover are covering the cost of my clutch (which they said in total was £1200?!!!) RESULT. I am also having the slave cylinder replaced as a matter of course, just in case whilst it's all apart. 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

Christ on a bike !!
Where do they get the prices from I have just had an AP Driveline unit fitted with quality release bearing and new slave cylinder , and whilst at it had the transfer box split from the gearbox to check / line the splines. All in total cost £499.00. That's some serious mark up and labour rates they are charging. At least as you say , they are paying ( I assume the 350 miles you mentioned was on s newly fired clutch rather than just the mileage you have done since buying the vehicle?) Nope, it was the total mileage I had covered in the car since buying it from the Dealer and I said it had rattled like this from day one and wanted to avoid my clutch driven plate exploding due to a spring coming loose and destroying more things down there.
They told me upon booking that LR will not pay for the work if it is found to be wear and tear, but only when the parts are faulty or unfit for purpose. Well guess what.... 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |
