Any way of adjusting the spring inside the wiper arm to put more pressure on the blade. Blade seems to be leaving some scum in the same place. Newly fitted blade. Have washed windscreen and blades. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Hi,
don't have the arm in front of me, so this is conjecture, but.... Way back in the distant past, I owned several Lotus Elises. These used a pretty standard wiper arm, as a single wiper. There were always moans about the fact that the wiper didn't seem to exert enough pressure on the screen. The solution (and it would probably work on the Defender) was to undo the spring in the the arm, and drill a new spring attachment hole a little further away (say, +3mm) from the original mounting hole. This had the effect of stretching the spring a bit more and increasing pressure.

Thanks for the reply. There does not seem to be anywhere to drill the second hole. Might try bending the catching bend on the spring. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
