They can be changed but are very fiddly! You need to remove the centre panel (the heater control panel stays put) and the mini-harness and bulbs can then be accessed.

I think there are 4 (one for each rotary knob, one each for the upper and lower sliders) but this is based on memory.

^^ Do a search on here for that. Several people who tried that years ago did not like it as the LED replacement bulbs are way too directional for use in the center dash. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
