I am having my silver side runner chequer plate painted black as to me the silver looks cheap, offends my OCD and does not match the car at all. A mobile paint specialist advised doing them in situ, using etching primer and 4-5 coats of satin black paint and they will do the lot for just £45. Will post a pic when completed in the next few weeks.

LEZ, I could do that myself if I wanted to, I have all the materials, but the paint will no doubt end up scratched and the silver will poke through as soon as my muddy gritty boots have stepped all over them (add in a nice twisting grinding motion and you can kiss the top coats goodbye very quickly. 2016 D4 HSE

Ouch, but yes matey I do understand the impracticalities, although I do not allow muddy boots in my car anyway, lol.
Many of us love our Landy's because we can personalise them, and we all have different ideas on what we like, personally I don't like black sawtooths as I think the dual finish look more classy with corris grey, but hey, others think the opposite. It's things like this which make our Landy's our own and it is why they are so desirable to us all. Smile

Moved the Defender onto the paddock to get some nicer shots of it. Can't stop looking at it! Laughing

In preparation for the new headlining I've been contemplating what to do about the sun visors. The OE ones in the matching Alcantara are £220. I just can't justify that cost.

On eBay you can buy slip over covers in leather that Velcro on, but they're nearly £50 and I'm not sure what the quality would be like. So I followed the advice of a forum member and bought a can of Matt black Plasticote spray. It arrived today so this evening I whipped the sun visors out, masked up the metal fixing tabs and got spraying. I'm sure it will need a few coats but if I have sun visors that blend in for £7 rather than £220 then I'm a happy bunny.

Top tip for using Plasticote.

Plenty of ventilation and wear a face mask. Seriously. Don't ask me why I know. 2016 D4 HSE

Looks stunning! I'd keep the roof grey, it creates a nice "floating roof" look from the back, much like L405's with body coured roofs, looks spot on Thumbs Up An engine to TDi for!

OK, against my previous judgement I think I no longer like the centre chequer plate on the bonnet and wondering what I can do to remedy this without buying a new bonnet.

If I drill out the rivets, remove, clean up the underside (silicon blobs) I guess I could then put new rivets in and paint them. This seems the least visible immediate fix but could look worse. Mind you, Land Rovers are covered in rivets!

Thoughts?

Leave as is or change and if so, any tips? 2016 D4 HSE

I could either fill in the rivet holes with nice stainless steel, or black head rivets or just plain and paint them. 2016 D4 HSE
