What is the best way to cut a neat slot in the plastic fuse box cover about 25x45mm to mount a blue tooth OBD adaptor?

Hi Dave,
Have you thought of something like this so you don't have to cut anything http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00XHFM...ge_o05_s00 Cheers Steve |

Make a template by drawing the shape of the opening on paper. Cut out and glue it to the outside of the lid, checking the position is right. Drill a number of small holes adjacent to one another about 5mm inside the final opening. Cut between the hole with a carpet knife to remove the core. File out the rest with a round file.
Patience and a steady hand. Half an hours work. ...or buy the adapter HS has suggested - good idea. Stephen 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Steve,
thanks for the reply, yes I've tried a low profile connector but it still fouls the cover. I came to the conclusion that a slot cut in the fuse box cover maybe best unless someone has a better idea... Dave |

I did the following if it helps:-
1. Pop the original connector out 2. Connect it to a Y cable 3. The other end to your OBDII accessory and place up behind dash 4. Pop the remaining connector back in the original slot No need to cut a slot Defender 110 TDCi XS SW Range Rover Sport HSE |

I just removed the small retaining surround for the plug, then plugged in my scangauge, then poked both through the hole. No cutting, not permanent, easy.
