I've just had a week away at Loch Lommond and did 1826 miles in total which when I worked it out equated to 33.6 miles/gallon.
The 90's now done 4200 miles so is still fairly new but I'm really pleased with the performance and the economy as I hadn't checked it before and was expecting about 27m.p.g. I would say I was driving at around 45-50m.p.h. in Scotland when out and about but trundling along, and often over 70m.p.h. on the motorways. Overall I'm more than pleased with the results. Mark |

I think I must own a Defender oliver reed special edition, when compared to you lot, either that or yours are the temperance edition.
have kept all of my fuel receipts since i've owned my defender and have record from now right back to when i picked it from the dealers in newport. I get around 28-29mpg when driving on a combined cycle. I get 31mpg when on a long run at 50-60mph. However this plummets to around 25-26mpg when on a long run at 70mph. This is for a standard 2.2 90SW with 235/85 tyres on boosts. I don't have a particularly heavy foot, don't accelerate particularly hard, but neither do I labour the engine doing 40 in 6th, i choose a gear appropriate to the speed I wish to do or the gradient and keep the turbocharger blowing nicely. I actually prefer doing long journeys at 60ish on the motorway as I find it a hell of a lot more relaxing cruising speed than trying to maintain 70, which i find to be quite hard work. It doesn't matter whether I use 'posh' diesel like BP ultimate/shell V-power or bog standard derv. Though if I wanted economical i'd have bought something else. |

never thought of it like that but I guess with those sleek lines concorde was economic ?

It's a 2.2 I own . That's the MPG , not the engine size .

My remapped 90 does north of 30mpg - I reckon the remap has added 3 or 4 extra mpg
