The plastic bit that holds the centre of the spare wheel ...
Hello All,

I'm after the name of (and preferably the part number of) the plastic bit that holds the centre of the spare wheel against the bulkhead in a pick-up. I've searched, but to no avail. I've got the bracket with bolt, but no centre retaining part.

Many thanks,

Peter Defender 11MY USW

which piece do you mean? there is a metal disc and a metal "bar" thing, but i can't imagine they'd be plastic... not strong enough.

part #7 "clamp", MXC5477 £8.33

#8 "disc, clamping-spare wheel" BTR335 removed from service (same as used on the rangie classic i think though, and camel discos/defenders to hold the sand channel stuff onto the roofracks)

#9 "washer,plain" WA116106 £2.39

#10 "spacer" KTD500070 £4.12

#11 "nut, alloy road wheel" RRD500560 £1133

#12 "nut, 16mm, wheel retention" RRD500010 £1.67

I prefer not to use that and put the bolt through one off the wheel nut holes so the tyre is sitting off-center and I just can place a jerry-can next to the tyre. Roel

Brilliant ! Thanks guys. I meant the metal disk and bar - I had been told that it was one piece and plastic.

Many thanks,

I think you're right that it's a one piece Peter (although it's definitely metal) - it's either a disc or a bar depending on your wheels. Mine came with alloys, and had the disc. I had the bar-style on my old series 2A, and that fits steel wheels (larger center hole than alloys). Peter

The disc also works on steel rims as with the Camel Trophy the spare tyre on the roof was held down with it. Roel
