3 sounds sounds a long long time. Checked my own 2.2 and I must say it doesn't extinguish as quickly as my other vehicles.

My 2012 2.2 had the oil pump recall thing a couple of months ago, at around 17k miles. The light goes out in about a second max. Sorry to say I agree that 3 seconds sounds very long. Think I'd want to check the oil pressure.

Anyone else want to share how quickly the oil light goes out on the 2.2 engines?

Mine stays on for a few seconds but then I have the oil service warning on the odometer, when the odometer shows the miles the oil light goes out. I assumed they were linked to make you aware an oil change is needed.

Thanks everyone
Roy5695, I think you might have a point here. Currently my 'Oil Service' message is displaying. It seems the dealer hasn't reset it after the service. It will be interesting to get them to cancel out the 'Oil Service' message and see if the light is quicker to extinguish. I'll get back in a few days with the outcome. |

Hi limbrich did you get this sorted as I have the same fault on 16k miles 2.2?
I've had it for three months and it was serviced before pickup from reputable dealer, but they appear not to have canceled service warning readout. |

Just checked: the oil warning light goes out after a second, just before the battery light does. The warning at the odometer has allways lit up when starting the engine as far as I know and then dissapears as soon as the milage appears on the screen. I assume that's a normal check. Has anyone experienced that this warning stays visible as an indication that you need a oil service? puma 2.2 MY2013

Is there a potential problem with the 2.2 engines?

I've just done 16k and due a service my light stays on for 3 seconds and then it's fine. Checked oil everyday, I will be booking mine in tomorrow.

Did the message stay on the display even after the milage started to show or did it just show up at ignition for a coup.e of seconds? puma 2.2 MY2013 [:O]===[O:] |

With mine the message and oil light stay on for 3 secs then go off together then mileage shows normally.
The dipstick reading is fine. |

3 seconds!! I'd be worried the engine bearings were being starved of oil every time I started it.
3 seconds sound excessively long in terms of building up the oil pressure? |
