Hi Orchard, Just had a look at your attached tread, very nice solution.
I have tried to get Westfalia in the UK to import a tow bar extender but with no luck despite their internal efforts (not CE approved over here or something!). I would like a NAS rear step but budget a bit tight so I asked Dave Cooper (the man who makes bike trailers and racks) to make me up an 25cm extender and a bike rack which I pick up tomorrow! Will post a picture when I get it!!!! Can't wait!!! Cheers Don. |

I have not got a bike rack at the moment but was planning to buy one however I have had an extender commissioned and built at the same time as my custom bike rack for under £270 ish.
Next year when I have a bit more cash I may go the NAS route as I love that style rear bumper. Incidently a mate of mine has also ordered an extender for his 110 and his has a NAS rear end! We pick his up tomorrow too. ![]() |

Picked up the extender and bike rack this morning from Dave Cooper; he said he can build extenders but that they are sold only on the understanding that they are not for towing. Give him a call if you want one on 01732 820082.
Here is the extender, 24.5 cms: ![]() Click image to enlarge And here is it fitted, clearing the spare wheel: ![]() Getting dark now so will take some pictures of the rack fitted in the morning......... Cheers Don. |

Good job - looks like it puts the ball in just about the same place as my US 2" hitch.
![]() Click image to enlarge Off topic warning; ![]() If I'm actually towing, I'd have a much shorter hitch to get the trailer closer to the rear axle, golden rule of hitch to rear axle should be than 0.4 x wheelbase. Which is why Defenders tow so well ! 2015 90 XS SW Bowler 1998 TD5 CSW |

That's neat.
The saddle on the bike looks a bit low for the handlebars......... ![]() 1998 TD5 CSW |

Is there any limitation to what you're allowed to to bolt on to the back of a Defender?
I've seen things like roof boxes that go on a tow ball (the chap that delivers semen has one to keep the liquid nitrogen out of his car) but with a DB slider you could easily fit all sorts on there. I could turn my hard top in to a small pickup ![]() |

First go was "wobbly" so redesigned it using tube and some Fiamma bike rack parts. Perfectly over-engineered now!!!!! ![]() Click image to enlarge Cheers Don. |

Pendle do a very good system. Had one on the wife's disco but when I came to use it on my 90, the spare wheel issue arose.
They have bars with an offset which I bought. Fits up to 4 bikes as well. Regards. Mac |
