Can I have some advice please.
I am trying to remove the 10AS Alarm Module from my 2002 Defender 110. The 5 self tappers to remove the binnacle came off easily so did the self tapper on the right (o/s) mounting of the module but I cannot get any purchase on the awkward self tapper on the left hand side. I've tried a flexible screwdriver as well as a 1/4" drive knuckle joint and ratchet with no success. What's the best way to remove the left hand self tapper which mounts the AS alarm on to the bulkhead. It is in an awkward place. Thank you |

I bought the 110 TD5 County Pick Up in September this year with it's original keys but no fobs.
The previous owner had fitted an aftermarket alarm and immobiliser which had become quirky in operation. The choice I had was to buy a reprogramming chip to enter a new code or send the 10 AS alarm to someone who could retrieve the original codes and supply new fobs. This is why I had to remove the module. Removing the module was a horrible job. It needs someone with long artistic fingers to undo the left hand self tapper and not thick workworn fingers such as my own. Anyway it's out but I'm not looking forward to refitting it. |

Without it still doesn't start, so removing it doesn't help to make stealing it easier. Roel

Agree that it won't start if you just remove it, but the harder it is to tamper with the better.
Almost all thefts of Defenders (unless the keys are stolen first) involve some kind of tampering with the AS10. |
