Secondary Fuse Box & additional power
Guys,

Looking at the secondary fuse box under drivers seat, according to the legend F4 is not used so I'm thinking of using this to feed a separate fuse box for additional devices. Sensible or should I just go direct to the battery?

Plenty of information on the forum about auxiliary fuse boxes. It really is personal choice and what you intend using it for and total current draw. I took a separate feed off the 400 amp mega-fuse on the battery and supplied the auxiliary main incoming to the fuse box with a 60 amp fuse. This was the maximum rating for the fuse box and allowed me to add circuits when and if I required to that maximum. Whilst underneath the vehicle and running in the supply cable I also ran in a couple of extra multicore cables at the same time so the cables were already fitted for potential additional circuits.
Fuse 4 is indeed not used but is marked on the diagram as having a rating of only 20 amps, that bank of fuses is protected by a 100 amp link fuse so loading of your installation will have to be considered as you may rupture the 100 amp one if the draw of your fuse box exceeds 20 amps. As stated an independent fuse is better.

Extra cable is the grey multicore on the right hand side. Thumbs Up

I love seeing people use bootlace ferrules on their wiring. Just so much nicer.

Thank you. You have a 'keen eye' Cupboard. Thumbs Up

I am fortunate enough to have all the tooling and parts I need to do a good job that placates my mild OCD. I personally hate the automotive yellow/blue/red in-line spliices so commonly used. I use Hellerman Jiffies that with the correct insert/extract tool can be subsequently disconnected and reconnected if desired or Amphenol ones if it's a 'one shot job,' they are also hermetically sealed.

Thumbs Up
