connected a trailer to the electric socket on the tow bar and lost the function of the rear light, brake and front side light all on the passenger side. I have also lost the lumination of the dash too
Main beam works passenger side and I have checked the fuses and all seams ok, I am not too electrical minded, any suggestions on what to check or where to look for the fault TACK |

Yes bud, went there first as I knew each light will have it own fuse and this must be a master fuse or something to knock the lot out

Andy, Disconnected the trailer electrics straight away and the lights stayed off. Turned the vehicle off, locked it, unlocked it and the lights remain dead, been like it for 24hrs now. Probably did not need to do that but things like that always worked in my d3
Peter, mines a puma, so dont know if this would be different or where this suspect fuse could be located |

Definitely sounds like a fuse to me.
I can't think which one off the top of my head. I'll have a look tomorrow. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

Fuse F18 in the main fuse box (under the steering column) protects the NS side & tail lights
Fuse F13 in the main fuse box (under the steering column) protects the brake lights (both sides) Instrument illumination is not specifically listed on the fuse spec but could well be off F18 too. There is no single fuse the failure of which could cause all the symptoms you describe! |

I use one of these to check trailers electrics before connecting to landy, you can also check vehicles wiring as well

Odd failure, as the brake lights are fused as a pair (Fuse 13 as above) Maybe it's a coincidence and the LH brake light bulb has blown?
The LH side lights are fused separately from the RH, and are via Fuse 18 as above. Have you lost the speedo illumination and the switch/control illumination - or just one? Switch/control illumination is Fuse 20, speedo illumination is via LH side lights feed - so Fuse 18. These are all in the steering column fuse box not under the seat. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Cheers Martin.
Pulled all the fuses out last night, i mean every single one with very cold hands. none of them blown, gave up and surrendered to the comfy living room. Set off this morning, err dash lights are working got out, all lights working. Did not test the lights last night after I pulled them all out. Losse fuse not really as I had pulled the relevant fuses out (F18 and F13) the day before and did not work. Will keep an eye on it but seams back to normal with no expanation Thanks for your help guys |

Hello All
I had exactly this issue today...(checking the 90 as MOT tomorrow... ) Also Rear Number Plate Bulbs (X2 blown)... hopefully separate issue. Searched on D2N, found a similar issue here...which made me worried initially... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic28957....ts+working as I have installed a OEM Land Rover 13Pin Towing Loom 3 months ago but to-date without issue. Arrived at this thread, and Fuse F18 is the culprit so a simple fix... feeling like it can't be that easy can it... Off to buy Number Plate Bulbs and a Spare Box of Fuse's. Thanks D2N, it's like having your own mechanic... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |
