Heated Washer Jets
A while ago i saw a fantastic post on another forum, about heating any washer fluid.

At the time i thought thats a cracking idea if i ever get chance ill do it - needless to say i havent.

I can broadly remember how it was done, i wondered if anyone had tried it (not using electric ones). I understand there is also an LR kit for it, but mainly ROW markets Mike

There was a tip in LRO once about extending the washer hoses and running it alongside a radiator pipe or similar, slight pre-heat but probably not very effective. Might stop it freezing totally once we hit -20C Wink 59 2.4 110 XS Utility

That product claims to clear the jets with steam. No idea whether it works or not. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Have you considered the effect of squirting hot liquid onto a frozen screen?

I've got one of these fitted to a Nissan Patrol and it is brilliant at clearing the ice, however the idea that it can clear ice at the jets maybe overstating things.

It heats the water on the way from the tank to the jets so be aware that you need to ensure that the tank doesn't get frozen, once it leaves the hotshot it is cooling down in the tube to the washer jet so you need to ensure that your washer fluid wont freeze in those circumstances too.

So at this point you have probably worked out that you need washer fluid that is always liquid which possibly defeats the idea of the hotshot.

That said if the tubes have got a bit of ice it will clear it and it has an auto setting which fires hot fluid at the screen for a few minutes and clears the big screen on the Patrol and it does look cool to have steaming washer fluid clear the screen instantly.

To the person that questioned whether it will crack the glass, I read that they thoroughly tested the unit in all conditions against all makes of glass.

I've just fitted one of these to the Defender, had the same concerns as Sticky but was sufficiently intrigued to give it a go - used it for the first time today. Have left the Defender out tonight so will see how it copes at clearing the windscreen tomorrow. Fitting was fairly straightforward though it took somewhat longer than the vidoe on Youtube! I'll aim to post some pics tomorrow.
