RedBooster Clutch Servo
Hi

I am looking to install the Redbooster clutch servo, some of the defender owners I spoke to were telling me that this could wear out the clutch plate prematurely. some other were saying it reduces clutch performance (not sure what they meant by that). What do you guys suggest?

Sounds like rubbish to me, all it does is make the clutch lighter by providing vacuum assistance the same way your brake system does.

I have no experience of one as I love my heavy clutch but I see no reason why it should wear your clutch out any quicker unless you slip it more due to it being lighter in operation? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

What's the "spring mod" that's talked about in that thread?

You can change the clutch spring for a Td5 clutch spring which is much lighter than the older style Tdi clutch spring.

Have a look at your clutch peddle, if it has a long tubular spring coming down from a bolt to your peddle, you should be able to change it, if you don't then you probably already have the lighter version. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

We've sold several Red Booster kits and only had good feedback.

We had one on our TD5 tray back and it made winch challenges a lot easier on the left leg

Hi Arsath

I have just had a Redbooster fitted on a TD5 Twincab that I use for off roading

I cannot praise it enough, the clutch is so light that after a full day off roading instead of my leg being tight and tired it was absolutely fine.

I have to admit that you need to get used to it and that you cannot rest your foot on the clutch at all else it will ride the clutch and slip

It took me a day to get used to it and it is money well spent.

Not sure I would fit it to my Puma but a definite for the tdi and td5 MY2015 110 Urban Truck Expedition Spec

I had looked into it but the cost for the unit plus for the install costs made it cost prohibitive for me and so just got used to the clutch Whistle and invested the money on other land needs.
