2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
Steering Damper
My puma has been fitted with a Terrafirma RTC steering damper. This has recently started making a groaning / spring rattling noise when turning at low speeds (i.e. with big steering inputs). I've taken the damper off and the steering is also much lighter. Is there a way of testing the damper or should I just accept it's u/s and but a new one ?

They are just a poor quality and pointless product. They tend to cause problems, and just cover up poorly setup, or maintained steering. You would be better to just throw it away and buy a standard damper, or if you prefer an uprated item, get your self an Old Man Emu one.
