i know the only difference between the white/green/green (110 SW) and the brown purple (110 USW) is the free length
CSW RHD 110 7 Seat (3050kg) RKB500300 White/green/green 422.96mm RHD 110 Utility RKB101111 Purple/Brown 409.96mm Only difference between the 2 springs is free length All other figures are identical for coil diameter, wire diameter, rate1, 2 & 3, total coils... Surely this can't be right? So they're the same, but the longer RKB500300 is softer?
Looking around the web, and in particular at a photo of the brown/purple springs, they appear to be a dual rate spring? I'm looking at softening up the rear of my 110 USW. Am I wasting my time, then, with the RKB500300 springs (which incidentally have just ordered, although could cancel if in time)? I'm really confused (as usual! ) now...

Hi James,
Wasn't questioning your statement - Just expressing my own confusion! Still not sure - But will take a photo of the two spring types next to each other when I pick them up on Monday. If the worst comes to the worst I guess I can take them back to the dealer. My 110 is due to go to local garage next week. Hoping that with the new Bilsteins I have, plus softer rear springs, thr harsh ride will be reduced, and my wife will be happy! 2010 110 XS USW (the slow one) 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ (the fast one) 2005 Ducati ST3 1954 Sunbeam S8 |

OK, so got my RKB500300s today.
Here's a photo of one (excuse the crap iPhone photo): Click image to enlarge and here's one of the Brown/purple springs, as fitted to 110s as standard now. Different? You tell me! FYI, the length of the RKB500300s (as measured by me) is 424mm. Hmm....... 2010 110 XS USW (the slow one) 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ (the fast one) 2005 Ducati ST3 1954 Sunbeam S8 |
