if you smash your Td5, the inertia switch would kill the engine. You could only restart after you reset that switch. IIRC? |

Same thing that senses an impact and sets off airbags (in any other vehicle that is!). If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

ah, cool. funny thing with the anti-stall you'd think they'd have had an inertia switch fitted. when my clutch packed up i had a scary time trying to stop the beast!, had to turn off the ignition (fortunately before i hit the wall - might have pushed the wall over!). www.ralton.co.za

I misunderstood - it measures rapidly decreasing speed. It's not a manual switch (like the kill button on a motorcycle) to stop the engine.
Ignore my previous post... www.ralton.co.za |

The switch on the Td5's has a small ball beearing inside it (if you take one off and shake it, you can hear it rattle around), like was said, a rapid deceleration (and maybe a "thump" at the end of it) will cause said ballbearing to jump out of its socket and kill the ECU & engine.
It's obviously well designed, as general off road use never seems to trigger it. Just looked through microcat, and indeed, there isn't one listed for puma's. |

Is there another system (instead of the inertia) that will cut the fuel after a crash?
And does it only cut the fuel or does it more? My roll-ver defender is not getting any fuel, but it does start when I give it fuel straight to the engine. |

Did you check if the fuel pump is doing what it's supposed to do |
